The music of Roald van Oosten ranges from pop gems to ghostly theatrical soundscapes. A versatile musician who grew up in Brussels and Amsterdam, Roald became well known as the singer-guitarist of the Amsterdam indie band Caesar. The band recorded an album with the legendary Steve Albini.
His pop sensibility was very well-received in the worlds of theatre and film. Early 2019 Roald is commissioned by the National Theatre in London to write music for the new Martin Crimp play: When We Have Sufficiently Tortured Each Other, directed by Katie Mitchell, starring Cate Blanchett. This was the continuation of an earlier collaboration with Martin Crimp on In The Republic of Happiness, for the Royal Court Theatre.
Roald van Oosten won a Silver Harp award for his album No Rest For The Alonely, and was nominated for an Edison Award. In 2017 he released his second solo album with V2 Records: A Stir Is In The Air.
